The truth is , there are many parts to your application, and together they help us discover and appreciate your particular process, but we look at far more than test scores and grades.
什么是PS(Personal Statement )？PS和SP的区别是什么？
SP (Statement of Purpose)，也称SOP,就是我们通常所说的个人陈述。SP偏学术型，主要写的是申请者的学术成就，研究经历，学术目标，展现更多的是学术方面的各项背景。文书以自己真实具体的科研经历，项目经历去阐述自己在学术方面的成就。
PS (Personal Statement)，也称Personal History Statement，也就是我们常说的小PS。PS的内容就比较广泛了，从家庭背景，生活经历，个人兴趣，课外活动，特殊经历等方面都可以阐述，从侧面展示自己的与众不同的成长经历，感悟和体会。PS很少涉及专业知识。比如，父母是从事某一领域的工程师，从小耳濡目染自己也选择了相同的专业，
PS的作用：标化成绩不够理想，PS可以在申请季中力挽狂澜。
美国留学文书PS的写作十大要点：
1、Strive for depth rather than breadth. Narrow focus to one or two key themes, ideas or experiences（追求深度而不是广度。把注意力集中在一两个关键主题、想法或经历上）
2、Try to tell the reader something that no other applicant will be able to say（试着告诉读者一些其他申请者不会写的话）
3、Provide the reader with insight into what drives you（让读者了解你的动力）
4、Be yourself, not the'ideal' applicant（做你自己，不是“理想”的申请人）
5、Get creative and imaginative in the opening remarks, but make sure it's something that no one else could write（在开场白中要有创意和想象力，让自己变得独特，容易被记住）
6、Address the school's unique features that interest you（介绍感兴趣的学校特色）
7、Focus on the affirmative in the personal statement; consider an addendum to explain deficiencies or blemishes (考虑一个附录来解释缺陷或瑕疵，可以借PS的大好机会，解释你的GPA，解释你的弱点转化优势等等)
8、Evaluate experiences, rather than describe them（评价自己经历，深入写自己的经验所得，而不是描述它们）
9、Proofread carefully for grammar, syntax, punctuation, word usage, and style（中文和英文的表达逻辑不相同，认真校对语法、句法、标点、用词、文体。）
10、Use readable fonts, typeface, and conventional spacing and margins（注意文书格式排版，使用可读字体、字体、常规间距和边距）
